About the Rose Caucus

Updated 2025-11-06

Who we are

Across this nation, people are struggling to survive while the elite exploit us for their interests. Housing is out of reach, our pay is not enough, our environment is falling apart, and Indigenous communities continue to face oppression.

Our political parties sit idly by as they debate over minor changes that barely impact their lives, while it worsens ours. We are tired, angry, and in need of actual change.

We believe in the Canadian people’s ability to shape our collective present and future. A member-led political caucus within the New Democratic Party (NDP) will be our way to create real political change through our democracy. This caucus is committed to the principles of democratic socialism and to effect reform under such principles.

This caucus aims to transform the New Democratic Party into a strong, member-led political alternative that accurately represents the working people and marginalized communities. This party must replace its static bureaucracy with a reinvigorated membership base that can effectively lead this party.

FAQs

Goals

  • To build influence within the federal party and provincial parties
  • To enact reforms and elect leaders who can bring about needed change to the political culture of Canada
  • To fight for policy that brings economic stability and equal opportunity to the working class

Model

Our model depends on local organizers working to advocate for our values at every step of the democratic process, from intra-party to the election day polling station. We seek to establish regional and sub-regional chapters for like-minded individuals to more effectively organize action locally, and to utilize the existing EDA structure to re-democratize the NDP.
